Board Of Directors Meeting - scheduled meetings are October 22nd, November 5th and December 3rd at 7:00 PM at the Canton Township Administration Building, 1150 S. Canton Center Rd, Canton, MI 48188. Anyone interested in helping with our 2009 projects is welcome to attend.
Make A Difference Day
Saturday October 24, 2009
We will be trying to collect a million pennies for our “Pennies From Heaven” project. Canton Residents and businesses are asked to collect as many pennies as possible and bring them to the Summit on The Park community center between 10 am and 1 pm. Any and all change is greatly appreciated. Many pennies together can be a great help in our Christmas project.
Adopt a Child - You can help by adopting children that you shop for clothing and gifts. Child clothing sizes, ages, gender and their reasonable "Gift Wish" are provided to help you select the gifts. These gifts are brought to Canton Township Administration building during the sorting and packing week in December. This can be a very rewarding experience. email Goodfellows President Nancy Spencer at johnancysp@aol.com or call her at 734-397-8975 if you wish to adopt a child - available after November 1st.
I’m An Angel Sale- Your business can sell paper Angels for $1 each to raise funds for the Canton Goodfellows.
Paper Sale Day -Saturday Dec 5th
The first Saturday of December is always Paper Sale Day. We sell on street corners and in the driveway areas on the main roads where folks can pull in off of the road and purchase their paper. A donation of any amount is gladly accepted.
Food Collections: The Showroom of Elegance holds a food collection drive each year to help provide food for our families - Oct 27th to Dec 5th this year. If you group would like to do a food collection drive, please contact us. Basic non-perishable canned and boxed foods are needed as well as "Kid type food": cereal, peanut butter & jelly, spaghettio's, macaroni & cheese.
Sorting and Packing Dec 14th -18th
This year we have a full week, December 14 thru 18, to work on sorting and packing the baskets for the children, families and seniors. Many hands are needed to make our days successful as we work towards delivery day. All projects are headquartered at Canton Administration Building, lower level.
Distribution Day Dec 19th
This is the best part of the project !!! On this day, December 19th, volunteers join together to help distribute all of the food and wonderful gifts collected for this year’s project. This year, clients are being asked to pickup their food and gifts and your help is needed to help carry them to their cars. Delivery will also be made to some clients and to 30 senior citizens. A great opportunity to really play Santa. This fun day will surely give you a warm feeling in your heart.
